Santuario di Montecastello
ITA – Nei dintorni di Tignale (BS), su uno sperone di roccia del Monte Cas, sorge l’imponente Santuario di Montecastello (691 m). Viene anche chiamato Santuario Madonna della Stella grazie all’apparizione miracolosa di una stella che mise fine a una sanguinosa battaglia avvenuta in quei luoghi nel 1200. Al suo interno, oltre a meravigliosi affreschi di scuola Giottesca, si trova anche l’ex voto più grande d’Europa, risalente al 1600. A far concorrenza a questo incomparabile Santuario è il panorama a strapiombo sul Lago di Garda: in fronte a voi potrete scorgere la catena del Monte Baldo e arrivare con lo sguardo fino alla penisola di Sirmione.

ENG – In the surroundings of Tignale (BS), on a rock spur of Mount Cas, stands the imposing Sanctuary of Montecastello (691 m). It is also called the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Stella thanks to the miraculous appearance of a star that put an end to a bloody battle that took place in those places in 1200. Inside, in addition to wonderful frescoes from the Giottesca school, there is also the largest ex voto in Europe, dating back to 1600. Competing with this incomparable sanctuary is the panorama overlooking Lake Garda: in front of you you can see the Monte Baldo chain and reach the Sirmione peninsula with your eyes.
